Retired Partners

In October, 1974, Charles "Dan" Aalfs, CPA purchased Humboldt Tax and Bookkeeping Service from Hank Lambert.  Dan operated the business as Charles D. Aalfs, CPA until October 1976 when Gary Evans joined in partnership with Dan...and Aalfs, Evans & Co. was born!  In 1989 Dan retired to pursue investment interests in Alaska and Louisiana.  He has since returned to California and is currently enjoying retirement in Redding.

Gary L. Evans, CPA joined Dan Aalfs in partnership in 1976 and started lightening his schedule in 1996, officially retiring in 2002.  Gary and his wife, Debra spend a lot of their time enjoying their retirement home in Willow Creek but still call Eureka home. Gary still drops by often to visit and tell tall tales of his hunting and fishing adventures.

In 1990, R. Jane Cole, CPA became a partner.  Jane came to Aalfs, Evans & Co. in 1984 as a staff accountant.  Jane became a retiring partner in 2002 but was still involved in working with some clients, particularly during tax season, through 2010.  She is now fully retired from the firm.

Scott Guild, CPA joined the firm in 1984, becoming a partner in 1988. He was a partner until his untimely passing in 2012. Scott was an inspiration to all who knew him, with his tireless commitments to family, friends and the community.

Michael Boreing, CPA joined Aalfs, Evans & Company in 1982 and joined into the partnership with Dan Aalfs and Gary Evans in 1985. Michael “officially” retired at the end of 2019, but has occasionally helped out a few long-standing clients with special issues. After retiring, Michael and his wife Sharon moved to Portland where they are enjoying their lives as Oregonians. They now live near their daughters Jennifer and Kelly, and granddaughter Sunny. Michael reports that “Life is Good”.

Patti Needham, CPA began her employment with Aalfs, Evans & Company in 1997. She then became a partner in 2003. Patti retired in 2019 and moved to Grants Pass. Patti is enjoying her retirement being active, traveling and enjoying her kittens Luna and Linus.
